Thomas & Friends Rockin on the Railway is a Play-a-Song book designed for children ages 18 months and older that follows Thomas and his friends as they chug across the Island of Sodor. Children press the book s sound buttons to play 13 different sing-along songs. To play a song, children match the picture on the sound button, which are shaped like musical notes, with the picture on a page. If two songs share the same picture, children press the button twice to hear the second song. The stop button allows young readers to stop a song at any time.

The book s colorful scenes feature Thomas, Sir Topham Hatt, Harold the Helicopter, Percy, and Emily, and lyrics for each of the 13 songs. Here is a list of the 13 songs on the sound module:
